Description

The Texas Sports Hall of Fame is launching its own magazine to share its rich history with sports fans throughout the state of Texas, announced Steve Fallon, Executive Director of the museum. The first edition was introduced to the public at the recent 53rd Annual Induction Banquet, held February 29th. Texas was the first state to have an athletic hall of fame. The first inductee was major league baseball great Tris Speaker, back in 1951. Since then, over 300 athletes from various sports who have brought fame and honor to the state of Texas have been inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame (TSHOF). “We are excited to introduce this new publication which will share so many of the great stories of our sports heroes from the past,” said Fallon. “Our facility is filled with great artifacts and memorabilia that many in the general public are unaware of.” This first edition features a “Where Are They Now” article about Green Bay Packer great, Donny Anderson and there are profiles on the 10 new members of the Hall of Fame. An editorial examines the effect pro sports lockouts have on everyday fans and you can learn about 12 things you can’t find anywhere else but at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. “This great museum gives testimony to the outstanding athletic achievements in the Lone Star State,” said Carroll Dawson, former General Manager of the NBA’s Houston Rockets and current president of the TSHOF Board of Trustees. “This magazine will help us share those achievements.” Although this first edition will be available primarily in Central Texas, the goal is to grow the magazine state wide, according to Randy Robertson, publisher of the magazine. “There are stories to tell, photos to inspire and memories to recall. Who better to do so than the museum that exhibits these sports treasures,” said Robertson.
